Pocket Imposter

Learn it in two minutes.

Everyone gets the same secret word except the imposter, who has to fake it. This is Word, the sit-down game. Start with this one.

Before your first game

Charge it with any USB-C phone charger. There are no buttons: tap the screen to wake it.

    Sit in a circle One person holds the box. It gets passed around.
  2. 2
    Set it up Tap Word. Pick how many players, how many imposters, and whether the imposter gets a hint. Then tap START. Use one imposter for your first game.

    Pass it around The box names who's next. That player taps the arrow, holds the button to see their card, lets go, and taps Next. Keep your card to yourself.
  4. 4
    Read your card Crew see the secret word. Imposters see IMPOSTER and a one-word hint, never the word. Everyone sees the category, like Food.
  5. 5
    One clue each The box says who goes first. Go around the circle and say one word about the secret word. Imposters have to make theirs up.
  6. 6
    Vote, then Reveal Talk it over, then everyone points at once on three. Most votes is out. Tap Reveal to see the word and who was lying.
Example round

Category: Food. Three players see Pizza. The imposter sees "Hint: melted". The clues go "cheese", "delivery", "slice"… and the imposter says "oven". Close enough to get away with it? Vote and find out.

Good clues

Don't say the word. Don't make it so obvious the imposter figures it out. Don't make it so vague that people suspect you.
